Wow! Powerful Stuff! Have you ever wondered what is meant by many of the messages that are communicated through rap music and Hip-Hop culture? Are you a person who enjoys the beats in rap music, but you can't understand the words? You are not alone...and the good news is there is help! I am Dr. eRiC Durham; Hip-Hop scholar at your service. As a fan of Hip-Hop culture, rap music, people, and scholarship, I am dedicated to uncovering messages, misnomers, and meanings behind contemporary Hip-Hop rhetoric.
Hip-Hop Scholarship seminars are workshops designed to educate and enlighten audiences of the important, yet muted, aspects of Hip-Hop culture that are not highlighted in popular media. An important underlying goal is to decipher the socio-political messages within Hip-Hop culture for improved intercultural communication. Due to the ever-growing popularity of rap music and Hip-Hop culture, it is increasingly beneficial for Americans to understand the impetus for various cultural communication styles.
We are not only unique in our research of Hip-Hop culture, but we are also unique in our delivery and communication of its messages to our audiences. Whether speaking with novices or Hip-Hop afficionados, we tailor our breadth of knowledge to provide the most educational experience possible.
